Defiant DeSantis Rejects Lockdowns: ‘Florida Is Open And We’ve Got Your Back!’Defiant DeSantis Rejects Lockdowns: ‘Florida Is Open And We’ve Got Your Back!’

Florida’s Ron DeSantis continues to demonstrate why he is the best governor in America by defying those who are demanding that he impose punishing lockdowns in his state.

DeSantis is on a collision course with the Biden regime due to his rejection of the measures that have been employed by Democrat governors who have destroyed millions of lives and jobs and shuttered an untold number of businesses as a response to COVID.

In a video released over the weekend, the Republican leader touted Florida’s ability to effectively manage the virus while allowing citizens to earn a living, making the Sunshine State a prime destination for those fleeing failed states to escape the hellish existence of life with the Democrat boot on their necks.

According to Gov. DeSantis: Every Floridian has the right to earn a living. Florida is open, and we’ve got your back.

DeSantis has stayed true to his message that lockdowns don’t work.

He added:

“If you work in a restaurant, we have your back. If you’re a hairstylist, we protect your right to earn a living,” he said. “And if you are a parent, we ensure your kids have the right to attend school in person. Lockdowns do not work. School closures have been disastrous yet even today we see across our country businesses shuttered, lives ruined, and schools closed.”

Despite the constant scorn from the corrupt media, Florida has served as a model on how to handle COVID by prioritizing the needs of the elderly and most vulnerable citizens as well as increasing the availability of vaccines to those who wish to receive them.

The governor’s defiance comes after an unpublished report by the White House Coronavirus Task Force calling for Florida to shut down bars, restaurants and gyms was leaked to a far-left pressure group in an effort to sabotage DeSantis and the state’s thriving economy.

Via The South Florida Sun Sentinel:

The highly contagious COVID-19 variant first detected in the United Kingdom is likely more widespread in Florida than publicly released data would suggest, while homegrown mutations of the virus have probably already produced other, more infectious strains here, the latest White House Coronavirus Task Force report warns.

The report, dated Jan. 17 but just released from Florida Department of Health, recommends Floridians take action now — “before an increase in hospitalizations is seen” — including a campaign with retailers reminding customers to wear masks and “substantially” curtailing or closing public indoor spaces where masks can’t be worn continually.

That includes bars, indoor dining and gyms, the report said.

That suggestion, though, is unlikely to gain traction. In late September, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis lifted restrictions on bars and restaurants that had required them to limit capacity. He has since threatened to intervene if local leaders try to restrict privately owned businesses.

“Just use common sense,” DeSantis said in December. “Let’s keep people employed.”

Democrats continue to lose ground in Florida which outside of the densely-populated southern counties is solidly Trump country and DeSantis could be well-positioned for a 2024 presidential run if he chooses to do so.

  1. If DeSantis is for real, he could be a future president. What a blessing for the country if we could get a younger version of Trump for eight years. First, however, we need to address voter fraud. Still staggering that America has not addressed its greatest problem. Right now, the American public is being lied to by the media and an illegitimate man sits in the White House. That is third world stuff, and should not be happening in the United States of America.
